Victoria Tane, creates expressive, humorous, snippets of life in this series of oil pastels, marker, and crayon on sandpaper. Brightly colored and whimsical, her work captures single people, couples, and families cuddling, talking, shopping, dining, and relaxing. Her pieces often feature strong, vibrant, women and smaller men. Each drawing can stand alone or be viewed as part of a series of related people. "I've inadvertently created a soap opera. Now I have to write the story."
Victoria's masks embody the same humor as in her oil pastels. By using a wide array of recycled materials, such as telephone wire, computer wire, spools of thread, old buttons, pieces of broken jewelry, dog tags, paint swatches, old silverware, dental trays, Crackerjacks prizes and other unexpected finds she creates a new work of art entirely out of old things.
